- Ecosystem and taxanomical classroom lectures - students will learn about the different ecosystems in which they will conduct their field studies
- Capture techniques classroom lecture - students will learn about the myriad of different capture and trap methods
- Learn to analyze and present different types of data - students will learn basic methods for data analyses and proper ways to plot and present different types of data
- Preparation of museum specimens - students will learn to prepare and mount small mammal specimens for zoological collections
- Macroinvertebrate sorting and identification - students will learn to identify, sort, and analyze benthic invertebrates
- Morphometric data analyses - students will learn the value and presentation of morphometric data analyses
- Telemetry tracking exercises - in a fun, team competition-based exercise, students will participate in telemetry tracking of objects inside the massive three-story Biology building, and also objects hidden in various locations on campus
